- build your intracity bus terminal near the entrance of your town

- try to centralize your hospitals, fire department, police, education, etc

- some towns might be industrial only, others might be office only

- take advantage of buses and rail to balance out your towns.

- roads near the highway offramps should have as many lanes as possible

- check unemployment. high unemployment means less tax revenue

- educated sims are less likely to have accidents, and can work in hi tech companies.

- some buildings, such as churches, do not have upkeep or operating costs. you can build them quickly and not worry that they might drain your economy

- build polluting indistries far from residential buildings, and make sure air pollution does not blow downwind.

- you can transfer money between cities

if you build a recycling center, you can get all the materials needed for an electronics factory.

bulldoze any buildings that were destroyed. otherwise they cannot rebuild, and they reduce the happiness of neighbors

abandoned buildings reduce happiness in their neighborhood

- after starting your city, your primary objective should be to build coal, ore, or oil mining and drilling as soon as possible. this will bring in revenue to allow you to build other buildings to support your city.
