how do I block access to a web site or domain?

on windows (or linux), edit your hosts file (or hosts.dat).

you must be administrater to edit this file.

windows: c:\windows\system32\devices\etc\hosts
linux: /etc/hosts.dat


add an entry for the domain name to block:

127.0.0.1 amazon.com


once added, and saved, you will not be able to access that domain, allowing you to block requests to that domain
